The idea has been debated for several years amongst social critics, which is whether it should be required that all prospective mates who want to get married should be required to take a marriage class prior to marriage. Well the idea is apparently being implemented in Shanghai as a class to prepare couples for married life. The China Daily reports.
I personally think this is a good idea, like the previous suggestions that couples who are planning to have a baby should take parenting classes. The jobs are so vitally important, and yet there is very little guidance on the matter save for family advice or old wives tales. The question in regards to the pre marital counseling classes is whether this will prevent divorce. I think it can't hurt, with the rate of divorce in China mirroring the rate of divorce in industrialized countries.
